Grinev, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Russian Federation V.P. Ivanov, Counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Russian Federation A.L. Acquaintance with Dubna was started at the city administration. Dubna City Mayor V.E. Prokh spoke about projects implemented in Dubna, Dubna University, the Special Economic Zone, development plans. At a meeting in the JINR Directorate the delegation was informed about history, structure, and international cooperation of JINR, about projects that are being implemented now and the scientific results that received international recognition.

- We have very close collaboration with colleagues from Ukraine - said in an interview JINR Director Academician V.A. Matveev. - And now we are preparing for new negotiations on additional participation of Ukraine and other countries in the mega-science project NICA.

After meeting with the JINR Directorate Ukrainian specialists were shown the major basic facilities in the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics, the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, at the JINR Medical and Technical Complex of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems.

-I was convinced once again that JINR is an interesting institution, unique, one of a few in the world where not just in words but in deeds partnership and cooperation, which we talk about so much, but few do, are being implemented – shared his impressions V.Y. Yelchenko - I think it is largely due to JINR that we were able to maintain nuclear science, which has always been strong in Ukraine during severe changes. So I think that our future is in this joint potential and I hope that this cooperation between Ukraine and Russia will take place in all other areas.

At the end of the visit a meeting of Ukrainian scientists who work in JINR was held in the JINR Scientists Club.

- Ukraine takes an active part in JINR activities – said First Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Informatization of Ukraine B.V. Grinev. - Ukraine's contribution to the Institute is the fourth largest. A team of 33 employees, mostly young scientists, are now working at JINR. We have joint programmes with JINR for training teachers, students, high school students; we hold several joint conferences a year.
